A Deal With The Devil

Description

Here's a screencapture from the Raccoons' second budget-saver...err, clip show (the first being "Let's Dance" before there was even a show), "Time Trap!". Cyril and either Boyd or Floyd (it is pretty hard to tell which of them is which) have been traveling back in time in T. O. M. the time machine and reliving Cyril's most embarrassing moments from season 1...and fixing them to make everything better for Cyril in the present. He's already managed to travel back to "Rumours" and give an epic stage performance, get himself knighted, and gain the rights to all the land in the Forest. He then gets a chance to fix his blunder in "Gold Rush!" Cyril missed his chance to make a deal with Mr. Knox to buy the ink and paper companies and put the Standard out of business thanks to all his clocks being slow as a result of a secret policy he had in place to increase the amount of work his employees put in. Now he has a chance...because he's given the extra time he needs. To the gang's horror, Cyril gets the call...and he's going to make the deal. UNLESS...Ralph and Melissa agree to sign ownership of the Standard over to him, basically becoming his newest lackeys. Melissa tries to fight, but alas, she and Ralph quickly give up when they realize Cyril's serious. They agree to sign over the Standard's ownership to him. Here we see a very disheartened Melissa and Ralph, looking quite ashamed as he's surely realized life is now going to be hell for him and Melissa. They won't be able to report the truth anymore and they'll likely only be allowed to write nothing but glowing praise and propaganda for Cyril and his business. Good thing this episode was only an unconscious dream by Cyril!

Oh, and just for fun, the contract Cyril has Ralph and Melissa sign has some...interesting wording on it. It reads "AS PER, QUANTUM LEPEM UNO AD NAUSEUM UND PAPERIUM HERIN IZ VERBOTTEN AS GIBBERIRIUM IZ NOT VERISNAVIUM." In other words, as it basically says, it's a bunch of random Latin gibberish. More creative than a bunch of indecipherable squiggly lines, that's for sure!

Since TOM blew up before Cyril could go back in time, he never tried it again. I figured that afterwards, TOM is sitting somewhere in Cyril's mansion collecting dust.

I also had the idea that maybe Bentley was able to figure out how to make TOM work (on his own). And if Bert and Cedric found out that Bentley knew how to get TOM working, to keep Cyril from finding out.
