All Tied Up

Yet another "Christmas Raccoons" screencap...Our furry heroes have discovered the REAL reason the Evergreen Forest is disappearing when they peer into the lumber mill they crashed into: ol' Hose-Nose himself, Cyril Sneer. They witness him abusing his aardvark minions (basically commanding them to keep working until they die of exhaustion!). Horrified and outraged by what they've seen, they come up with a plan to stop him. They get their chance when an angry Cyril forcibly drags Cedric out of the mill as he is heading off to cut down the Forest's remaining trees. No sooner do they step outside than our furry friends ambush them. They jump on them and in no time Schaeffer has both aardvarks by the nose. Bert, Ralph, Melissa, and Schaeffer angrily berate them for destroying the Forest. Cedric wails that they should have stopped when they hit their quota, but Cyril tries to gain our furry heroes' sympathy by telling a BS story about how he's only doing all of this for his son's benefit (...Which Bert cries upon hearing!). But Ralph doesn't buy it and continues to berate Cyril, telling him that his days of rampant deforestation are over and that he should be more responsible like other lumberers who replace the trees they cut down with new seedlings. Cedric chimes in that there's money to be made in reforestation, and Cyril is intrigued...until he realizes that it will cost him money to buy seedlings, and so he decides it's not worth it. Here, we see Schaeffer's response to that: he ties up Cyril's elongated nose (I can only imagine how much that would actually hurt for an aardvark...). Needless to say...that's all the convincing he needs to save the Evergreen Forest! Melissa also demands that Cyril give her, Ralph, and Bert a new home, but alas, the kids start calling for Schaeffer before that can happen...

Don't get me wrong, I don't HATE this special by any means, but this part is definitely a tad anticlimactic. Our furry heroes come up with a plan...and defeat Cyril and Cedric in less than 30 seconds. I know this special was only half an hour long and Cyril and Cedric aren't capable of putting up much of a fight on their own...but even when I first saw "Christmas Raccoons", I was hoping our heroes would have to do more than just jump them and beat the daylights out of them!
